Artistic Swimming

EDSC offers Artistic Swimming (previously known as Synchronised Swimming), a combination of dance, gymnastics and swimming. It is a great way to get fit, strong, flexible and build your mental and musical skills. It’s also a great way to make new friends and have fun. You will improve your swimming, learn a variety of sculling techniques, ways of moving through the water and figures. You will also combine your new skills with others as part of a team or duet, learning and performing a 3 minute choreographed routine to music which is played through underwater speakers.

The Artistic Swimming section was formed in 2001 to compliment the competitive swimming section of the Club. It was initially ceated by Sam Finch and Lisa Burdett who were ex GB National Synchronised Swimmers. The Section is now coached by Alex, Dan, Lisa and Sarah.  Our Academy squad is for those who are new to synchro and we follow the Swim England Artistic Swimming stages 8-10. Our main squad provides progression past these stages and we have had multiple consistent successes at both County and National level. Both squads swim at White Oak Leisure Centre in Swanley on Sundays.

We welcome new swimmers to try out this fun and challenging sport. If you enjoy swimming then Artistic Swimming may be for you. Your first session is free so come along and have a try. All Swimmers are expected to abide by the Squad Criteria. For more info on the squad contact the Synchro Manager via the Contact Us page.

Coaches

Our Level 2 coaches are Alex and Dan. Dan is also a Level 3 judge with extensive National experience. Alex is also the manager of the Artistic Swimming section. Lisa and Sarah are experienced poolside helpers who have been coaching since their children started the sqaud over 5 years ago. All coaches have choreographed many routines over the years, and constantly work together to improve their methods and learn from each other.
